ABSTRACT:
A single-subject, alternating treatments design (ATD) was used to compare effects of free play, cooperative games, and competitive games on social interactions between a boy with Asperger's Syndrome (AS) and 6 peers who did not have a disability. Results indicated that cooperative games were associated with the highest frequency of positive social interactions between the body and his peers; cooperative games were also associated with the highest frequency of negative social interactions. Design considerations and issues related to providing inclusive play opportunities are discussed.
