ABSTRACT:
The purpose of this investigation was to determine if there was a relationship between the seating capacity of sporting facilities and the selected method of cash handling and customer change distribution employed by that facility. The investigators selected 150 subjects from Aud Arena Stadium Guide (1991) to participate in the study. Each concession manager selected as a subject was sent a questionnaire, which was devised by the investigators. The responses of the surveys were statistically analyzed using chi-square. Percentages were also incorporated to evaluate current trends. Percentages from the responses indicated that the majority of the concession managers preferred to use cash boxes-tills. Within the scope and limitations of the study, the investigators concluded that the selected method of cash distribution was not influenced by the seating capacity of the arena. Further, concession managers of large facilities were experiencing certain problems that could be alleviated by the use of computerized concession terminals.
