ABSTRACT:
The present study's two main objectives were (a) to determine if an adaptation of the stimulated recall interview technique provides a useful means of revealing the beliefs and principles of coaches, and (b) to construct the beliefs and principles of a youth ice hockey coach, in game situations, using the aforementioned adaptation. Overall, results suggested that (a) verbal cueing stimulated recall interviews (V.C.S.R.I.) provide an accurate means of revealing the beliefs and principles of coaches, and (b) overly simplistic accounts of coaches' convictions, opinions or views may be inaccurate, and should thus be avoided.
