Considers the increasing interest in sports as a feminist issue. Argues that there is virtually no feminist analysis of sport and little application of feminist theory to sport. Reviews the trends and developments in the sociology of sport discipline which have influenced the study of sport and gender. Identifies potential improvements in the study of this issue. Considers how a feminist analysis of sport will help build a political practice in sport.
