ABSTRACT:
Examines the value aspects of sport activities among various groups of the Soviet population. Looks at the structure of value orientations and their regulatory role in man's behaviour. A random sample of 846 athletes revealed that there is a group of values highly important for all athletes. These are the functional contents of sport, physical 'I', volitional qualities, communication, self-actualization, and prestige. The absence of the possibility to achieve these values in sport results in the decrease of interest towards sport. Conclusion states that sport activities are regulated by a whole complex of value orientations.
