Mathematical principles of natural philosophy is translated from Latin by Andrew Motte and revised by Florian Cajori. Optics was originally published in English under the title Opticks, or, A treatise of the reflexions, refractions, inflexions, and colours of light. Treatise of light is translated from the French title Traite de la Lumiere by Silvanus P. Thompson. "Notes from the editors" (22 p.) inserted.
