ABSTRACT:
The Etruscan Bronze Liver of Piacenza was discovered in 1877 in a field in Settima di Gossoloengo near Piacenza, Italy. It is a three-dimensional representation of a sheep's liver in bronze, covered with Etruscan script systematically ordered both according to the shape of the liver as well as through incised lines which separate various words and word groups. This book by Andis Kaulins deciphers the bronze liver, showing this so-called "Roman Haruspex" to be an astronomical instrument charting the heaven of stars by the major constellations.
