First ed. "In the present play I have had no hesitation in adopting the conceptions and language of my predecessors wherever they seemed likely to strengthen the plan which I had prescribed."--Pref. Some entire scenes and portions of others are from Downman's Lucius Junius Brutus, 1779, and from Cumberland's The Sybil, or The elder Brutus, published in 1813 in the posthumous dramatic works of Cumberland.
