Dr. Buchanan conducts research in the areas of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. His interests include the development of innovative treatment technologies, the optimization of existing treatment methods, and investigation of their application to new pollution control challenges. Other recent research projects have included the investigation of hydrogen sulfide removal from municipal wastewater, and the effect of aqueous iron on UV microbial reduction systems. Previous research combined probabilistic methods and reaction kinetics to develop design models for biological wastewater treatment processes. |
