Dr. DeCorby's main research interest is in new materials and devices to increase the efficiency, capacity, and economy of optical communication networks. This includes research on semiconductor, glass, and polymer materials for realization of optical sources, amplifiers, modulators, switches, and detectors. A key theme of this work is monolithic integration of optical and optoelectronic components. The research is conducted at the University of Alberta Microfabrication facility and at TRLabs, which houses extensive optical and RF characterization capabilities. |
