Research interests center on understanding the genetic causes and mechanisms leading to inherited retinal degeneration. We have adopted human genetic approaches to map human retinal disease genes and to define genes that are important for the normal function of the retina. In addition, we have taken a molecular approach in order to clone and characterize some of the genes underlying the active cell death process. |
