Under no circumstances will information about getCITED's members be provided to other parties. The people responsible for creating getCITED receive more than their fair share of spam and, thus, have no intention of contributing to this problem. Nevertheless, members of getCITED should be aware that the site is being crawled to varying degrees by a wide variety of web crawlers and, in this manner, it is possible for public email addresses to be found. For this reason, it is highly recommended that members have two email addresses: one for truly important emails from known sources, and one for the public. The former should be entered as your "private" email address as this cannot be found by web crawlers and is only used when notifying you of changes to your information. The latter address should be entered as your "public" email address as this is the address that will be visible to anyone who brings up your getCITED identity. That said, you are free to leave the public email field blank.
