Reference help/glossary/Reference UPDATED: 03/02/05 01:39 A REFERENCE occurs when a PUBLICATION makes reference to another PUBLICATION. If Book A cites Book B, then Book A has made a REFERENCE. Book B in this case has one CITATION. getCITED allows members to link REFERENCES so that they can be displayed in their getCITED CVs. REFERENCES are displayed as LINKS so that viewers of the PUBLICATION RECORD can have instant access to the REFERENCES you cite. getCITED also compiles STATISTICS of the linked REFERENCES a publication has. REFERENCES are not automatically displayed in your CV and reflected in the STATISTICS; they first must be linked to your IDENTITY.
