DESCRIPTION:
Department of Political Studies
The Department of Political Studies (founded in 1967), one of the largest academic departments within Bar-Ilan University, is engaged in academic instruction and advanced research which cover a full range of political and associated issues:
Political Philosophy (Western and Jewish)
Comparative Politics
International Relations
Israeli Politics
Strategy and National Security
Politics in the Middle East
Public Communications
Public Administration and Public Policymaking
The Politics of the Jewish People
Approximately 1,700 students are enrolled as majors in the Department of Political Studies, among them some 600 master's degree candidates and 40 doctoral students. Enrollment has risen dramatically in recent years, with increasing numbers of students earning graduate degrees. Alumni of the Political Studies Departments are represented in all spheres of public life (and span the full range of the political spectrum), among them members of the Israeli Knesset and Government, mayors, leading newspaper and television journalists, political analysts and members of the diplomatic corps. The Department has roughly 80 faculty members - from tutorial teachers to full professors. Research Centers and Institutes under the auspices of the Department of Political Studies include:
