DESCRIPTION:
Welcome to the Notre Dame Department of Sociology. These are exciting times at Notre Dame. Surveys by both the National Research Council and U.S. News and World Report rate us as having one of the country's most improved graduate programs. In the past few years, our faculty and students have won grants and fellowships from such places as the National Science Foundation, the Lilly Foundation, the German Marshall Fund, the Guggenheim Foundation, the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion, the Social Science Research Council, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Former ASA President Maureen Hallinan heads up the Center for Research on Educational Opportunity while Gil Cardenas directs the Institute for Latino Studies.
