DESCRIPTION:

Part of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures in the University of Glasgow Faculty of Arts, the French Section (until recently known as the French Department) has been promoting teaching and research in the subject since the 19th century. We have a large undergraduate student body following courses for the Ordinary and Honours degrees, and a thriving post-graduate community. The section received a 5 rating in the UK 2001 Research Assessment Exercise. At the moment there are 11 full-time and 2 part-time members of academic staff along with seven native language assistants.
